SIMULATED CHRONICAL OF A COMMON PLACE

3D Animation, HD (1920 x 1080).
This animation was especially made for the collective exhibition “Daniel Lopez Show”, Roebling Hall Gallery, NY (2007).

Daniel Lopez is one of the pseudonyms Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet used to open accounts of dubious origins. This video features audio and visual effects of the kind used by Discovery Channel (such as 3D animation, voice off narrator) to reconstruct recent Chilean political history. Through an aesthetic that recurs to an ‘objective look’ and a text consisting of a number of common places in which ‘bads’ are demonized and goods are victimized, the idea is to ironically simplify a complex story to show it ‘pedagogically’ to the rest of the world.
